How do I choose and change the tiers of a tier list?
Pick a tier template or make your own tiers. Renaming keeps every vote; adding, removing or reordering tiers after people voted clears their tier lists.
A tier list has 2 to 20 tiers, best first. Each tier has a label of up to 40 characters, one of twelve colours and, if you like, a short description that people see when they place an item.
Start from a template
On the Rating step of the wizard, choose Tier list. TopX shows three templates that suit the list's category first; More templates shows the other six:
- Classic: S, A, B, C, D. A list gets these when you choose nothing.
- School grades: S, A, B, C, D, F. Long scale: S to F with E.
- Top-heavy: SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, for lists where the very best matter most.
- Gamer: God, Top, Mid, Low, Trash. Ratings: Perfect to Awful in eight steps.
- Must or skip, Taste and Quick pick (Yes, Maybe, No), each tier with a description.
Tap Customize to change the template's tiers before you create the list. A template is copied into the list: a later change to the template never changes your list.
Change the tiers later
Owners open Edit tiers in the list's ⋯ menu (or Edit list, then the Rating step). Each tier has its colour, its label and a menu with Description, Move up, Move down, Add below and Remove. You can also drag a tier by its handle.
- Renaming, recolouring and describing tiers keeps every vote. History shows the change.
- Adding, removing or reordering tiers changes what every vote meant. Before anyone voted, this saves at once. After people voted, TopX first shows how many group members' tier lists, community votes and shared tier lists the change clears. If you confirm, everyone places their items again and gets a notification. History keeps the earlier tier lists; community votes are deleted for good.
Two tiers cannot have the same label, ignoring capital letters.
