Voting

How do I vote on a community link?

Open the link, decide every item (ranked, scored, in a tier or in Don't know it), reveal, and compare with the creator, the group and the community.

A community link lets anyone vote on a list without an account, for example the viewers of a video. It works on tier lists, ranking lists and point-scale lists. The people who made the list are the group; everyone who votes through the link is the audience. Audience votes never change the group result.

Vote blind, then reveal

  1. Open the link. You get the same board as the list's members:
    • Tier list: the tier board, with the items in To place.
    • Ranking list: the Ladder, with the items in To place.
    • Point-scale list: the score table. Tap an item to score it in the score dialog.
  2. Decide every item:
    • Tier list: put every item in a tier or in Don't know it. Drag it, or tap it and choose the tier and the spot.
    • Ranking list: rank every item or put it in Don't know it. Drag it, or tap it and choose its place. Items in To place or Rank later are not decided yet.
    • Point-scale list: score every item on every dimension, or put it in Don't know it. A partly scored item is not decided yet.
  3. When every item is decided, a short bot check runs and Reveal turns on. Until then, TopX shows how many items are left. Tap Reveal.

Until you reveal, you see nobody else's vote and no result: not the creator's, not the group's and not the community's. Your board stays in this browser, so you can close the page and finish later.

Compare

After the reveal you see your vote against:

  • The creator: the vote of the person who made the list.
  • The group: the group result of the list's members.
  • The community: the result of everyone who voted through the link, counted the same way as the group result.

The owners decide whether the audience compares with the creator, the group or both. Each comparison shows an agreement value from 0 to 100 % (100 % is the same order) and every item with both sides, the largest differences first. The difference is in the list's own terms: tiers on a tier list, places on a ranking list and points on a point-scale list. Items in Don't know it on either side show no difference and do not count towards agreement. At your reveal shows the comparison as it was when you revealed; Now uses the current votes.

You can keep changing your vote after the reveal. Each change saves and counts, as long as every item stays decided.

Return on another device

Closing the tab does not lose a submitted vote. Reopen the community link in the same browser: its cookie keeps access while the cookie remains valid. Before clearing cookies or changing devices, save a private link or save the vote to your account. If you lose the cookie without either saved option, TopX cannot identify or recover your anonymous vote.

After revealing, choose Save access to my vote, then Create private link. Copy the link somewhere private, or use its QR code to open it on another device. To bookmark it, bookmark the access page before selecting Open my saved vote. The results page you reach afterward does not contain the private access link.

The link opens your existing vote, its comparison at your reveal and the current comparisons. It does not create another vote, and you do not need an account. Both connected browsers can change the same vote while voting is open. Reload to see changes saved on another device.

Keep this link private. Anyone with it can access and change your vote. This is separate from Share my tier list (Share my ranking or Share my scores on the other lists), which only lets people view and compare.

If the new browser already has a different vote, you choose whether to keep that browser's vote or switch to your saved vote. Both votes stay counted. Save access to the browser's vote first if you want to return to it later. An unfinished draft stays stored in that browser; the restored vote takes precedence when you open the list.

The private link has no automatic expiry. Create replacement link or Revoke private link stops the old link and disconnects other browsers opened through it. Your current browser and the original browser keep access. A vote supports ten extra browsers at a time (the administrators can change this); replace its private link from a connected browser to disconnect the others and make room.

Closing voting keeps comparisons available and prevents edits. Removing your vote, an owner's vote reset, deleting the list or replacing the community link ends the private access link.

Save to your account (optional)

In Save access to my vote, you can also choose Sign in or Create an account. You return to this community list with your browser's vote still connected. Then explicitly choose Save to my account. Signing in or registering never automatically attaches your votes.

On another device, sign in and open Account → Community votes. Open my vote opens the same ballot and current comparisons. You do not become a member of the list, and no extra vote is created. Owners and members continue voting on the regular list page.

If that browser has a different vote on the same list, choose whether to keep its vote or open the account vote. Save a private access link to the browser vote before switching if you want to return to it. Opening the account vote clears only that list's browser cookie. Both votes stay counted, and other lists keep their browser access.

An account saves at most one vote per list, and a vote belongs to at most one account. If you already saved another vote, keep that vote, or remove its account access before saving the new one. The votes are never merged or deleted by this choice.

Remove account access only removes the account connection. The anonymous vote stays counted; existing browser cookies and private links continue working. Save a private link first if your account is your only way back. Account deletion removes its connections while preserving anonymous votes. An owner's vote reset removes the vote and all its access. Replacing the community link makes saved account entries unavailable until you independently obtain the new community link and explicitly save the still-connected vote again.

Share your vote

Tap Share my tier list, Share my ranking or Share my scores, choose the name others see ("A voter" unless you change it), and send the link. A person who opens it sees your vote only after deciding their own items and revealing. Then they compare with you. To change the name, tap ⋯ next to the buttons and choose Rename the shared link. Stop sharing in the same menu ends the link; your vote stays.

Remove your vote

Tap ⋯ and choose Remove my vote. It deletes your vote, its comparison at the reveal and your shared link. Your board stays in this browser, so you can reveal again while voting is open.

When the owners close voting, the link shows the results read-only.
