What's new

Everything we shipped, newest first. Short, honest, and only occasionally funny.

What's new, now also in your inbox

Once a month or so, when there's enough to tell, you'll get a short What's new email: the changes, with pictures, and a link to try them. It's written by humans and sent by hand (no drip campaign, promise).

Not your thing? Every email has a Stop What's new emails link, and Profile has the same switch. Emails about your lists still arrive either way.

      What's new, right here

You're reading it. When we ship something, it shows up on this page, newest first.

A dot on your avatar (or on You on a phone) tells you there's something you haven't seen yet. It goes away once you've had a look.

      Pictures for lists and items

Lists and items can have a picture now. Upload one, paste a link, or use Find to search open sources such as Wikimedia Commons, Open Library and TMDB (with credits).

No picture? Every category has its own drawing, so your wine list still looks like a wine list. On a computer the pictures are big, and a click opens a large view you can flip through with the arrow keys.

Put TopX on your home screen

TopX can now live on your phone like a real app, with its own icon (TX on a podium, naturally) and no browser bar in the way.

Choose Install TopX in the account menu, or in You on a phone, and we'll walk you through it for your browser. On iPhone and iPad that's Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Bold, italic, lists and links in your lists

List and item descriptions can now have bold, italic, bulleted lists and links. Line breaks stay where you put them (a surprisingly hard problem, don't ask).

The description now sits right under the list title, and a long one folds away behind More about this list. Each item shows a one-line summary of its key facts. Owners can also invite people as owners now, so you don't have to run the list alone.

See what changed, as it happens

On lists with live updates on, the page no longer jumps to its new state when someone else saves, like nothing happened. Changed rows light up for a moment, moved rows glide into place, and the header says what happened: "Updated just now · Ben placed 3 movies". (Names only show on lists that show everyone's ballots. Elsewhere it's "A member updated their ballot".)

It works on the list pages, on Home and in your lists overview. Your own saves stay quiet, because you already know what you did.

Emails that keep everyone in the loop

When you add someone to a list, they now get an email with everything they need: what the list is about, how to vote, the items and the decide-by date. People without an account get the same overview with their invitation.

Members also hear about it when they're removed, get another role or the list is deleted. On lists with live updates on, they get one email when items or the date change. We never email the person who made the change, and every email gets the same clean look as the app.

A help center that actually helps

There's now a help center with 34 short articles, from "How is the group result counted?" to "Why do I see two Claudes?". Search finds the right one as you type.

The same answers show up inside the app: look for the Help button on a page and the little ⓘ next to the confusing bits. New here? Ranking, scoring and creating a list each come with a quick tour the first time you try them.

Your account, all in one place

The new Account area has your profile, the AI assistants you've connected and Delete account. On a phone it's behind You in the tab bar.

Each connected assistant gets a card with where it connects from and when it was last used. You can rename it ("Claude at work") or disconnect it from its ⋯ menu.

      A pile of squashed bugs

A few things that should have worked all along, and now do:

      • 0 is a score. Giving something zero points no longer looks like you skipped it.
      • Ties count at the precision you see: two items that both show 4.7 share a place.
      • Fast drags on the ranking ladder keep the item where you dropped it.
      • People no longer show up twice when you change the sort.

Delete your account, and a real privacy policy

We hope you stay. But if you want to go, Delete account in your account now does exactly that, no support ticket needed.

You have 14 days to change your mind. After that your name and email address are erased everywhere, and your old ballots stay in the results without your name. We also wrote a proper privacy policy and terms, in words a human can read. They're linked at the bottom of every page.

A podium and Scoreboard for point-scale lists

Lists you score with points now show off a bit. The group says puts the top three on a podium ("4.7 / 5"), and the Scoreboard next to it shows every item with the group score and a column for every ballot you can see.

Scoring got faster as well. The Score dialog lists every item, jumps to the next one you haven't scored, and takes number keys on 3- and 5-point scales.

      Rank with one tap

Tap an item, tap its spot, done. The Position dialog now saves on the first tap and closes, with no Done button to hunt for.

The trays got clearer names too. Rank later is for items you still want to place. Don't know it is for the movie you never saw (no judgement), and it doesn't count toward the result.

Use TopX from Claude, ChatGPT and friends

Your AI assistant can now do the tedious bits. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Claude Code to TopX and ask it to create a list of the 20 best sci-fi books, invite your book club or tell you who still has to vote.

You decide what it may do when you connect it: read only, or make changes too. Before an invitation goes out, you see the email and say yes.

      Decide-by dates and nudges

Every group has that one person. Now there's a polite way to deal with them.

Give a list a Decide by date, and the "x of y done" pill shows who still has their turn. On lists with live updates on, owners can Nudge them with a short email, at most once a day per person, so nobody gets spammed. When one of your lists closes within three days, Home reminds you who's missing.

A whole new look, plus an activity feed

We rebuilt every screen. New colours, new type, a tab bar on phones and a lot less clutter.

Home now has an activity feed with what happened on your lists while you were away (on lists with live updates on): "Arrival #5 → #2", and what that did to the group result. Owners can also fix a member's ballot on their lists, and the history says who did it ("Anna updated Ben's ballot").

      Private ballots by default

Some groups like to see who put the Star Wars prequels at #1. Others would rather not know. Each list now has a Show everyone's ballots switch.

Off (the default), participants see their own ballot and the group result. Owners always see every ballot. The group result counts everyone either way.

      Live updates, history and notifications

Refreshing the page to see whether Ben finally voted is officially a thing of the past. Turn on Live updates, history and notifications for a list and open pages update by themselves when someone saves a ballot.

The list also gets a History button, so you can scroll back and watch the group result change, one ballot at a time. It's off for every list until an owner switches it on in Sharing.
