Getting started Owners
Ranking or point scale: which should I choose?
Choose ranking to find one order, point scale to score items on a scale and optionally on several dimensions.
You choose how a list is voted on when you make it, on the Rating step of the wizard. Everyone on the list votes the same way.
Traditional ranking
Everyone puts the items in order. Use it for questions like "which film do we watch first?". It forces a choice: only one item is first. People can also set aside items they cannot place yet or do not know.
Point scale
Everyone gives each item a score. Use it for tastings, reviews and anything where several items can be equally good. You choose the size of the scale:
- 3 points (Simple)
- 5 points (Classic)
- 10 points (Detailed)
- 20 points (Fine-grained)
- 100 points (Precise)
You can also score on several dimensions, such as aroma, taste and finish, each with its own weight. TopX combines them into one score per item.
Can I change it later?
Not once someone has voted. Until then you can change the way of voting with Edit list. A point scale also cannot shrink below a score that is already given.
