Getting started
What is TopX for?
TopX helps a group decide together, with everyone voting on their own and one result for the group.
TopX is for decisions a group makes together: the next movie night, the wines for the club's tasting, the restaurant for the team dinner, the book club's next read.
How it works
- Someone makes a list and adds the options, called items.
- They invite the others by email.
- Everyone votes on their own, in their own time. Your vote is called your ballot.
- TopX counts the ballots into one group result and updates it with every ballot.
Two ways to vote
- Ranking: you put the items in your order on the Ladder.
- Point scale: you give each item points, on a scale from 3 up to 100, and optionally for several dimensions such as aroma and taste.
The person who makes the list picks the way. It is the same for everyone on that list.
What you can make lists of
A list belongs to one of twelve categories, for example movies, books, restaurants, wines or cities. The category decides which details an item can carry, such as the director of a movie or the vintage of a wine. If none fits, the Generic category works for anything.
