Sharing and privacy
What is the difference between owners and participants?
Owners manage a list and its members. Participants rate the items. A person is one or the other in a list, never both.
Everyone in a list is either an owner or a participant. Together they are the list's crew.
Participants
Participants rate the items and see the group result. Whether they also see the other members' ballots depends on the switch Show everyone's ballots.
Owners
Owners can do everything a participant can, and also:
- edit the list and its items;
- add people to the crew and remove them;
- invite people by email;
- change the sharing switches;
- see every ballot, whatever the sharing switch says;
- change a member's ballot for them, which is logged;
- send reminders to members who have not voted yet (when live updates are on).
The person who creates a list starts as its owner. Owners can add more owners.
Rules for the crew
- A person is an owner or a participant in a list, never both. Adding someone with the other role changes their role.
- A list always has at least one owner. You cannot remove yourself as an owner, and you cannot remove the last one.
- A list holds at most 20 people, unless an admin has changed the limit. When it is full, the add buttons are disabled and the Crew step says "This list is full."
