How do I get notifications when it's my turn?
Turn on notifications for each phone or computer, choose what notifies you, and mute a list that is too busy.
TopX can tell you on your phone or computer when a list is waiting for you, so you don't have to check. Notifications are off until you turn them on, separately for each phone, tablet and computer.
Turn them on
- Open Notifications in your account. On a phone, tap You, then Notifications. On a computer, open the menu behind your picture and choose Account settings, then Notifications.
- Choose Notify me when it's my turn.
- Your browser asks whether TopX may show notifications. Choose Allow.
The page then shows the device under Your devices. Do the same on each device you want to be notified on.
iPhone and iPad
An iPhone or iPad shows notifications only from TopX on the home screen. Add it there first (see How do I add TopX to my home screen?), open TopX from its icon, and turn notifications on there.
If you chose "Block"
TopX can't ask again. Allow notifications for www.topxapp.com in your browser's site settings, or on a phone in the settings for TopX, then come back to Notifications.
What notifies you
- Your turn: someone adds you to a list, or adds items to a list you are on.
- Reminders: an owner reminds you to vote.
- List changes: items are removed or the decide-by date moves, on lists with live updates on.
- Membership: you are removed from a list, your role changes, or a list is deleted.
Each message has its own switch for notifications and, where TopX sends one, for email. List changes and Membership come Once a day by default: one summary in the evening for all your lists. Choose Right away to get each one when it happens.
You never get a notification about something you did yourself.
Mute a busy list
Open the list's menu and choose Mute this list. While it is muted, it sends you no notifications and no change or reminder emails. Emails about being added or removed, or about the list being deleted, still arrive. Choose Unmute in the same menu to hear from it again.
Turn them off
Under Your devices, choose Turn off next to a device. Removing TopX from your home screen or clearing your browser's site data turns notifications off for that device too.
